I have always wanted to work in one of those fancy galleries and work with antique and coin collectors to see what makes them tick. My great grandfather used to collect coins and then he would sell silver dollars to people in his later years for ten times their worth just because he could. I was given the rest of his collection when he passed away and having been looking into how much I can get for selling silver coin collections at an auction.

I have never added any additional coins to what I was given but always wonder why I am not looking to. This is why I want to ask what makes the collectors keep collecting. I suppose if you have the promise of amassing a great fortune or if you truly love it then it would be more fun but I do not think that it’s fun or do I think I will become rich from selling silver coins.

My plan to sell silver coins at an auction will only come true if I can find a good auction house that will give me an appraisal before I sign the papers. Anything under five thousand dollars will not be enough for me to go through with the sale.
